Temporary leaving more than 33,000 homeless in Asuncion, Paraguay

Pray for Paraguay. The Blessed Virgin 09/17/2015

The number of people evacuated to shelters due to floods in Asuncion now totals 33,000, so the brigades of the Government continue with its operations in response to the flooding of the Paraguay River, which is nearing the maximum seven meters.

The Government does not rule out that the river continues to rise and the weekend increase the numbers of displaced people, who mostly come from the Marshes, two humble neighborhoods on the fringe of the Rio Paraguay.

The current rise is due to heavy rains caused by the El Nino phenomenon, mainly in the middle basin of Paraguay, according to SEN.
